elcome to the Barony of Caer Mear, located in the Laurel Kingdom of Atlantia We are part of the Society for Creative Anachronism , a nonprofit educational organization focused on research and re-enacting the middle ages. We are interested in the clothes, food, art, sciences, martial arts and the pagentry of tournaments and court from the years 600 a.d. to 1600 a.d. From Their Excellencies
- Unto the Populace of Caer Mear do Baron Augustin and
Baroness Aine send festive greetings!
We extend Our deepest appreciation to everyone who helped
make Yule such a wonderful event. The food was delicious, the atmosphere
festive and the camaraderie unmatched. We enjoyed spending time with all of you
in attendance, including Our dear guests from afar, Baron William of Storvik,
and Baron Ragnar and Baroness Lynette of Dun Carraig (and the beautiful babies
which provided much entertainment for us all!!)
Congratulations to Brother Amos on his squiring to His Grace
Duke Ragnar during Our court, and to all the award winners, especially Lord
William (Cookie) Barfoot, for whom We presented an AoA as directed by Their Majesties
during Crown Tourney.
At this time, We also have an important, and bittersweet
announcement that We shared at the last baronial business meeting. The upcoming
Ruby Joust will mark the end of our tenure as your Baronage and We have decided
that it is our best interest at this time to clear the way for Our successors. We
love serving You in this capacity but many other factors have influenced the
decision to step down. We thank you for all of your tremendous support so far,
and appreciate your continued help over the next 5-6 months.
Soon you’ll hear words from Baron William, our seneschal, about
the polling process. For anyone interested in serving, We are always open to
meeting with you to discuss what it takes to serve and share our experience, as
will most of the retired baronage.
In the meantime, We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas
and Happy Holidays, and Our best and brightest wishes to you and your loved
ones for a healthy and safe new year.

C aer Mear encompasses the greater Richmond, Virginia area as well as points north toward Fredericksburg, south past Fort Lee and Petersburg, east toward Williamsburg, and west to Scottsville. The Barony also has three smaller groups within its borders:
College of Yarnvida local group with an emphasis in early period and Scandanavian studies. This group invites anyone in the Barony with a shared interest to join them.
Canton of Caer Gelynnioglocated to the northwest of Richmond, in and around Fluvanna County.
Canton of Rivers Pointlocated on the south side of Richmond, encompassing Chester, Petersburg, and Dinwiddie. |
